I am a senior at American University studying journalism and music. I am interested in reporting on and researching local alternative music scenes and how they are culturally, socially and emotionally beneficial for participants. I write and edit for AWOL, AU's long form and investigative magazine, and I write and host a radio show for WVAU, AU's excellent student radio. I am a gigging bass guitarist in Washington, D.C., both on and off AU's campus. I specialize in jazz music and also play rock, alternative and pop.

From a young age, I have always found solace in my favorite music, whether I am listening to a new album on my way to class or spending hours practicing my own instrument. My work as both a reporter and a musician aims to promote that vital cultural community function of music. Since I know just how touching music can be to a person, I aim to highlight and bring that experience to my audience.
